The Humanist Society of Iowa
Sunday August 10th Corn Tour

What's a Corn Tour? Back Button Details:

Join us on Sunday August 10, 2025 for a look at corn research and development.  We will tour an active corn breeding nursery, showing and discussing how corn goes from research and development to what farmers grow.

Ancient peoples of the Americas practiced human sacrifice to guarantee a good harvest.  Modern people try to use science to improve their crops.  Should we return to ancient crop enhancement practices?  Were the old ways better?

Come along and find out.

We will also briefly examine the popular invasive weed known throughout the Midwest as the soybean.
